FOUNDATION COURSE (PRE-MEDICAL COURSE)
The pre-medical program was established as the first step of studying in Kharkiv national medical university. This program allows the matriculation for students from all over the world in spite of the individual variations of the educational system of their countries. Students enter the premedical program, eventually being accepted into Kharkiv national medical university. Students who had passed such subjects as science, mathematics, English and any other three subjects, are eligible to this program. The Pre-medical course consists of program in English and Russian language. This is an 8 months foundation course at the Kharkiv National Medical University.
Pre-medical course offers (Foundation Studies Course):
A standard university entrance qualification and also an excellent base for their further academic studies. The program of the pre-medical course gives the possibility to develop the student’s skills in making notes of scientific texts, mastering the special terminology, understanding and writing lectures. Here students also extend their knowledge of Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Computer Science in English Language. A range of study units relating to the special subject requirements of the course the student intends to apply for. Professional development is intended to encourage student confidence and independent learning. KNMUs Foundation Year course streams include key preparatory studies aimed at specific KNMU degrees – for example, the Health Sciences stream preparing for entry into KNMUs professional degrees such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics and Pharmacy. The following subjects are taught in the foundation course: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Studies. Teacher consultation times are provided outside class time, so that along with the tutorials, each student has considerable opportunity to receive individual attention. Classes are conducted in the university as well as in our new purpose built building.
The Students are to receive:
1.the most necessary skills in reading, listening, writing and speaking with focused work on subjects specific to the University classroom.
2.full use of all university resources, including all libraries, recreational facilities, accommodation, computer suites and student services.
The teachers of the pre-medical course are competent, friendly professionals. They have extensive experience in teaching foreign students. Teacher consultation times are provided outside class time, so that along with the tutorials, each student has considerable opportunity to receive individual attention. The program of the pre-medical course curriculum is approved by the Ministry of education and Ministry of Public health, Ukraine and gives the right to enter the following faculties: medical faculty; dentistry and postgraduate training.
1- The embassies of Ukraine are full from 15th august to 15th November during visa time. And the visa process is very long because of many applications.
2-Pre-med visas start after 15th November. This way student can easily get visa.
3-The classes starts from 1st of September for 1st course, and students who apply for direct to 1st year, generally arrives after all visa formalities by 15th October, and they miss around 2 months of classes. And it’s very difficult to clear all classes on time and sometimes student doesn’t finish his first year and have to repeat 1st year once again in most cases.
4-Student can easily acclimatize when he prefers pre-med course, and then the student can start 1st year right from 1st of September without missing any classes.
5-In some countries students finishes their school late and are not eligible to get admission directly to 1st year, instead of waiting for 1 year and go through long visa process. It’s better to come for pre-med course, for which you can get 100% visa.
6- Tuition fee for pre-med course is not more than 2000$.
7- After completing the pre-med students gets direct and guaranteed admission to 1st year or any other course students wants such as masters courses and transfer students also can get admission to the courses for which they are eligible.
8- Pre-med courses can be joined from 1st December till 1st of March.
